Dulux Australia's simple solution

Dulux Australia is now the largest manufacturer of paints and surface coatings, but with this growth has come the need to change their inventory management system to cope with high stock movement demands. Product labelling systems operating independent of stock inventory networks and duplicated handling resulted in high risk of inventory tracking errors, and potentially unreadable or inaccurate product information data. So far all had worked well enough but this system would not cope with growth.

Dulux is typical of so many companies that have a supply chain system that has reached its limits. One of the most pressing requirements in Australian businesses today is for simple, high performance barcoding and pallet labeling equipment that can be upgraded as the companies demands grow. It is not an option, in many cases, to replace existing equipment very time demand increases.

Dulux turned to Peacocks. (their current label manufacturer) who came back to Dulux with an amazingly simple and cost effective solution: The Zebra Z4M thermal barcode printer, installed in every Dulux manufacturing plant in every state.

The Z4m can produce labels up to 114mm wide, printing at 300 DPI at 254mm per second, and comes standard with a host of other efficient extras including:

- Built-in print server
- Automatic calibration systems
- Printhead energy controls
- Colour-coded operator cues
- Large transparent media cover
- Robust metal construction
- ZebraLink and ZebraNet software packages

The built-in print server allows remote access into the printer status, performance results and fault monitoring. This printer can even be programmed to contact the service technician as soon as a fault has occurred, dramatically reducing production downtime and service labor costs. The printer server comes fully equipped with the latest remote access software packages ZebraLink and ZebraNet, allowing Dulux head-office in Queensland via the internet, remote access to every printer in every state for a production and maintenance report.

As Dulux's production demands grow, the Z4M can too. If attached to the Tharo label applicator, the unit becomes a fully automatic label print-and-apply system, applying labels directly onto the products as they travel down the production line. A complete automated production line, developed from a simple to use, high performance thermal barcode printer. The cost savings not just for now but for ongoing requirements were very impressive, instantly winning the approval of Dulux.

Mr. Neil Crump, Managing Director of Peacock Bros. and the Peacock Group of Companies commented on this simple effective solution provided to Dulux, So many companies come to us frustrated over having been quoted by supplier massive equipment and installation costs. he said, understandably businesses don't want to spend all their profits paying for new systems, they just cant survive like that.

Peacocks. takes great pride in providing affordable business solutions that not only meet the client's current demands but are easily upgraded when required with the fastest possible ROI. This approach has directly contributed to the success of Peacock Bros. who have been providing business solutions for over 100 years, completely Australian owned and operated and fully vendor independent. Peacocks has grown into what is now the Peacock Group of Companies spreading across Australia and New Zealand consisting of a growing number of industry and solution specific companies.
